ready to read.
Quotchi reads Claude Code and Codex usage and reset times, plus Gemini app usage if you want it. It uses your tools’ existing sign-in. There’s no Quotchi account.

Install & get started
Open the DMG, drag Quotchi into Applications, and follow the three welcome screens. Our complete installation guide covers your first reading, optional permissions, manual updates and removal.
Compatibility
| Tool | Required setup | Current limits |
|---|---|---|
| Claude | Claude Code 2.1 or later; signed in with your Claude subscription (not an API key) | Plan usage and available reset times through an experimental connection. Some model-specific limits may be missing. |
| Claude app | Optional fallback when Claude Code has no reading. Claude desktop app with its English Settings → Usage page open; macOS Accessibility permission | Session and weekly usage bars through an experimental reader, tested on Claude 2.31226.1. Other limits may be missing. Claude Code’s own reading always wins. |
| Codex | Codex CLI 0.160 or later; signed in with ChatGPT | Usage and available reset times. Some account or model limits may be missing. The detected CLI must be runnable. |
| Gemini | Optional. Gemini desktop app with its English Usage limits pane open; macOS Accessibility permission | App usage through an experimental reader, tested on Gemini 1.128.1.995 and 1.128.5.1038. No reset times or token stats. Gemini CLI usage is separate and not read. |
Quotchi reads subscription usage. API-key billing and team administration are out of scope. Quotchi needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 14 or later; Intel Macs aren’t supported. Homebrew, npm, nvm, Volta and Bun installs all work. If a new CLI release changes its format, Quotchi keeps your last reading and tells you to check for a Quotchi update.
What do “experimental” and “partial coverage” mean?
Experimental describes a connection we have tested on specific versions and setups, but which may change with provider updates. Partial coverage means Quotchi can show available usage limits without having verified every allowance that could affect your account. Displayed percentages come from the provider’s reported data. Missing limits and reset times stay unknown.
If no limits appear
- Open Quotchi → Settings → AI tools. Check the tool’s connection message and detected version.
- Sign in to Claude Code or Codex with your subscription account. Quotchi never asks you to paste credentials.
- If a version is unsupported or its launcher fails, check your provider’s installation. A desktop app being installed doesn’t mean the CLI works.
- For Gemini, turn on “Read the open Usage limits pane” in Settings → AI tools, allow Accessibility access in macOS and leave Gemini’s English Usage limits pane open. If its numbers look old, refresh inside Gemini.
- Choose Refresh in Quotchi. Manual checks have a one-minute cooldown. Failed checks back off, and the app shows the next check time. Checks pause while you’re offline, while the Mac sleeps and for hidden tools.

Older readings stay labeled as last known. A countdown reaching zero doesn’t prove your allowance is back; Quotchi waits for a fresh reading. It only says a tool has room when its readings are fresh and complete.
Find what you need
- Now: current reported windows, expanded details, alerts and a manual work-block shortcut when local history is enabled.
- Plan: upcoming reported resets across tools, current capacity, and optional experimental pace estimates. Estimate settings and method details expand when needed.
- Stats: open Stats from the main navigation and opt in to read local Claude Code and Codex counters. Dates and cache traffic stay labeled. Gemini has no token stats.
Free: basic totals, your leading model and a Field Notes card.
Pro: Activity, Models and Trends, saved observations, and token, model or activity cards in three themes. Nothing is uploaded automatically. - History: saved charts, compact summaries, period comparisons, work blocks and reset cycles. History requires Pro, is optional and stays on this Mac. Existing records remain exportable and deletable without Pro.
Native widgets are Free and optional. Enable widget sharing in General settings, then add Quotchi from macOS Edit Widgets. macOS controls their refresh timing.
Work-block changes are percentage-point changes in reported usage, so they can include other activity on the same account. Pace estimates assume you keep going at the same rate; they aren’t guarantees.
Unlock Pro
Pro is a lifetime license for up to two Macs, including all future Quotchi Pro updates. Import the signed file supplied with your purchase in Settings → Pro. Keep the original file to restore access. License, activation and seven-day refund details.
