The Two-Tool Juggler
Claude Code in one hand, Codex in the other, two sets of limits to watch.

What this says about you
You don’t wait for resets; you switch. Claude Code and Codex each have their own allowance and their own windows, and you’ve figured out that when one says stop, the other usually still has room. It’s a smart setup.
The catch is bookkeeping. /usage only knows about Claude, /status only about Codex, and the dashboards live in two browser tabs. The real cost of juggling is the context switch, not the subscription.
Your plan, honestly
Two entry plans, Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus (both listed at $20 a month), give you two independent allowances. That’s often more useful than one bigger plan if you’re happy to switch. Upgrade only the tool you hit more often, and check each pricing page first: OpenAI says ChatGPT Pro currently has no five-hour Codex limit.
This is our rule of thumb, not official advice, and it doesn’t promise a quota: neither Anthropic nor OpenAI publishes a fixed number of messages. See Claude Max vs Pro for the details.
Two tips that fit
- Make switching cheap. Commit or stash, then leave a three-line handoff note (what’s done, what’s next, what to avoid) so the other agent doesn’t start cold.
- Learn both check commands.

Your Quotchi feature: Two tools, one glance
Quotchi’s Free two-tool menu bar shows Claude Code and Codex side by side and tells you which tool has room. In the terminal, quotchi can-i answers the same question for scripts. Using the Gemini app too? Quotchi can optionally show its usage alongside, without reset times.
